In another video in the series about his hat collection, the History Guy recalls the history of the broad-brimmed felt or straw hat, with a high crown, pinched symmetrically at the four corners.

  1. My Uncle received a 10 gallon Texas Ranger Stetson and an honorary citizenship to the state of Texas from the Governor of Texas John Connelly. He is not longer alive but his wife is and has both the certificate and the hat.

    His company was part of the rescue of the Lost Battalion in WWII. The Battalion was made up primarily of Texas National Guard. My Uncle Will was a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat team.

    I thought the story might be of interest to you since it has a famous hat associated with it.
