USS Jamestown and the Great Famine

The US sloop of war USS Jamestown entered Cork harbor the morning of April 15, 1847. While the US was at war with Mexico at the time, the mission of the Jamestown was one of mercy. The History Guy recalls the forgotten history of one of the earliest examples of a government providing foreign disaster relief.
